The DCC Test Assurance and Governance practice sits within the Service Delivery function which is responsible for managing DCC’s end-to-end delivery through a structured governance process, on time, within budget and to the required standards for successful in-life operations.
The Test Assurance and Governance function practice is responsible for assuring and governing the significant technical testing undertaken by our Service Providers across the DCC ecosystem, up to the point of delivery to the User Testing and Live environments.
The Test Assurance Lead will:
Act as a key point of contact with the programme and project management in relation to Test Assurance activities, encompassing all the Non-functional and Functional testing.
Lead the assurance activity confirming the solution / services can be implemented, are operationally fit for purpose, do not adversely impact existing services, operates within the wider IT infrastructure and are fit for the User environment and Live service.
Develop the Test Approach and determine test assurance resource requirements in conjunction with the Test Assurance Manager.
Direct the activities of Test Assurance resources in respect of the Test Assurance activities for a specific project/programme.
Act as a key contact with DCC’s Service Providers on testing-related matters.
Agree how the detailed testing will be undertaken, evidenced and reported by the Service Provider.
Assure test completion through witnessing tests and inspecting test results.
Where required, will provide analytical support to other areas of the Test Assurance function.
Lead the DCC’s engagement with the Programmes/Projects and Service Providers on relevant testing matters.
Establish the scope and agree the detail of testing undertaken by the Service Provider.
Analysis of test evidence to confirm that established criteria have been met.
Production of high-quality routine and ad-hoc reports.
Timely escalation of issues to the appropriate members of the Test Assurance leadership team.
Line management of assigned Test Assurance Analyst resources.
Skills and Experiences Essential
A test professional with a minimum of 8 years’ relevant testing experience. 4+ years of which, will be at test manager / lead level
The ability and experience to rapidly understand complex functionality and architectures
In-depth understanding of testing standards and processes, and how these apply to a service provider
scope the required system testing
define the associated business scenarios
assess the test programme and plan proposed by the Service Provider
witness tests and inspect test results
Excellent analytical skills: able to identify exceptions to the agreed test approach, propose alternative solutions and appropriate responses
Strong communications skills: written and verbal with good presentation and persuasion skills, able to present technical issues to a non-technical group
Approachable, with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working
Skill and Experiences Desirable:
Experienced in using test tools such as Jira and test management tools (such as HP ALM) to manage test execution and reporting
Familiarisation with firmware testing, Incident Management Systems
Knowledge of the GB telecoms or energy industry, in particular smart metering
ISEB, ISTQB or equivalent certification
